About Niagara's Illumination Lights

There are a total of 21 high power xenon lights which illuminate
Niagara Falls each night throughout the year. Each spotlight
is 30 inches in diameter and produces over
390 million peak beam candle power per light.

The spotlights change in an array of colours
as they light up both the Canadian and American Falls.

Financed and Operated by
The Niagara Falls Illumination Board Since 1925

Illumination Niagara Falls

An Awesome Feeling
Niagara Falls naturally creates a fine mist of water
which is caused by the massive amounts of water
continuously pounding the rocks below.

It's like it is always raining in certain areas of the park
depending upon which way the wind is blowing.

If you should catch it at the right time;
Take a walk along Queen Victoria Park at night.
You'll find a spot where the coloured spotlight beams
cross the street as they laser themselves
towards the Falls from the Illumination tower.

Stand underneath the light beams as they
cut through the thick Niagara mist.
The mist and coloured lights will mix and take form
and dance before your eyes.
It's probably a rare experience as the wind
has to be blowing the mist towards
the light tower. It's cool if you can catch it.

Niagara Falls is also a popular place to find
Rainbows.
