Winter in Niagara Falls Winter in Niagara,
Niagara Falls
Niagara Falls is beautiful in the winter. The frozen mist forms large ice sculptures
around the waterfalls. At the base of the Falls an Ice Bridge is formed. In past years
the bridge was so thick that people could actually walk across the Canada / US boarder.
Niagara hovers around the 0 degree celsius mark in the winter and the weather can swing
6 degrees either way in a matter of hours. Snow, rain, freezing rain can all be experienced in
the same day, and every year is different for snowfall.
Some years there is no snowfall, while other years we may see 4 feet of it in
a single storm.
Niagara Falls Ice Bridge
An ice jam forms at the base of Niagara Falls each year creating the very scenic
Ice bridge . Slabs of ice, 6 feet thick, are smashed together from the rushing
currents of Niagara Falls forming a bridge between Canada and the US mainland.
The mist from Niagara Falls freezes as it settles on the surrounding parkland creating
beautiful natural ice sculptures. See the gigantic massive icicles which form around the
sides and base of Niagara Falls. Truly a winter wonderland.
